In this episode, we visit with Jennifer Hamilton of Mountain West Hard Cider, ruminate on Utah’s new 5% ABV cap on draft and grocery store beers (it used to be 4%) that took effect on November 1st, and discuss some of the differences between beer and cider. Then we hear about Lauren’s trip to the 2019 Great American Beer Festival, Utah’s medalists (Shades, Level Crossing, Red Rock, T.F., and Squatters), and this year’s Small Brewpub of the Year, Rowley Farmhouse Ales, in Santa Fe, New Mexico where Jenni visited recently. Due to some technical difficulties during the recording this episode, our segment on T.F. Brewing, a bronze medalist at GABF, and a tasting of their new NEIPA, Jellyfish, is not included. This was not an intentional snub. We regret the omission and wish TF a hearty congratulations and a very Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

Some of the beers we drank…
We drank a lot of beer on this podcast including those you see here. Lauren said not to post the photo of the Shades beer because the nucleation points on the glass indicate it’s less than perfectly clean. No better way to learn than through illustration, right?! Not pictured is the Buffalo Point NEIPA from Red Rock. Cheers!
Thanks again to Mountain West Hard Cider for hosting us. A big thanks to Mike “The Janitor” Millen for contributing, producing and editing all of our silliness. We know that ain’t easy!
