Here’s to New Beginnings

Our brewing legacy is in good hands as we welcome aboard two very talented craft beer veterans who will chart the course of a new and exciting journey at Red Rock Brewery.

We are pleased to announce that Chris McCombs will be returning to Red Rock Brewery to serve as our new COO and Brewery Engineer and he will be joined by Kevin Davis who will step in as our new Head Brewmaster.

Chris McCombs

Prior to joining Red Rock, McCombs worked as a plant engineer for New Belgium Brewing from 2000 to 2017, working on projects ranging from the Cellar 2 expansion to New Belgium’s first Pilot Brewery. Previous gigs also included brewing at Kettlehouse Brewing Co. in Missoula, MT and Red Rock Brewing Co.

Chris has collaborated on several award-winning brews over the years (including Red Rock’s Gold Medal winning Paardebloem), and he has served as a judge at the Great American Beer Festival and speaker at the Craft Brewers Conference.
Chris looks forward to, among other things, leading the design and build of Red Rock’s new destination brewery, slated to be built in downtown Salt Lake City in late 2019.

Kevin Davis

As we wish a fond farewell to Brewmaster Kevin Templin, we would like to give a hearty Red Rock welcome our new Brewmaster Kevin Davis!

Kevin Davis comes to us with over 20 years of commercial craft brewing experience, including over 10 years at the legendary Brewery Ommegang, Keegan Ales and most recently New Belgium Brewing Company.

Kevin also taught for six semesters at Colorado State University’s school of Fermentation Science, where he helped shape the careers of numerous future craft brewers.

When Kevin is not skiing tasty powder turns in Colorado and Utah, he is bike touring to a multitude of craft breweries and hiking with his dog.

For My Valentine

Reve 2016 small

“Words fall short whenever I try to tell you how special you are to me. So on this Valentines day, I express my love for you by sharing a bottle of Rêve from Red Rock Brewery” – A Hopeless Romantic

The 2017 Rêve will be released on February 14th at all Red Rock Brewpubs for your Valentine’s celebration (located Downtown, Fashion Place and Park City Junction).

The Beer Store release will be delayed this year, and is currently scheduled for Saturday, February 25th at 11:00am.

Rêve is a Belgian style tripel brewed with Belgian candy sugar and aged in French oak barrels for a year. Brettanomyces and Bruxellensis yeast strains add a snappy tartness to this beer. It’s bottle conditioned – creating an effervescent, Champagne-like drinking experience.

Rêve has been awarded a Bronze and Silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival.

The 2017 Rêve will be available in 750 mL and 500 mL bottles. 10.3%ABV

2017 Release of Red Rock’s Furlong

We are pleased to announce the 2017 release of Red Rock Brewery’s ‘Furlong’.

Furlong is a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout brewed with roasted barley to impart distinct notes of coffee and dark chocolate.

Bourbon barrels are full of intense flavors that are the perfect complement for the roasted dark flavors of an imperial stout. They add a distinct character that stainless steel simply cannot.

Furlong is now available at all three Red Rock Brewpub locations in Salt Lake City, Fashion Place, and Park City Junction.  A very limited sale of individual bottles will take place at the Red Rock Beer Store on January 7th, beginning at 11:00AM.

This is a very small batch of barrel-to-bottle beer and it will sell-out quickly. 500 mL bottles. 10.2% ABV.

Utah’s Draft Beer Law 4% ABV

Despite the chorus of complaints heard throughout Utah regarding our heavy handed liquor laws, there is a silver lining.

Our own Crafty Beer Girl, Lauren Lerch says ” you’d be hard pressed to find such a concentration of high quality session beer anywhere else in the United States, and that’s something to be savored.”

A Sleigh-load of Surprises

This Christmas Season will be full of surprises at the Red Rock Beer Store.

First, if you’re a fan of Red Rock Brewery’s barrel-aged beers, we’ve got good news. We’ve stashed a fair number of our most coveted beers for a new game we call “The Twelve Days of Christmas at the Beer Store”.

Every time you visit the Red Rock Beer Store between now and December 24th, you will be given a uniquely numbered “12-Days of Christmas Card”. Then starting on December 13th, we will be randomly picking numbers and matching them with one of the “sold-out” beer styles displayed in this photo.

The winning numbers will be posted on the Red Rock Beer Store Facebook page at 11:30AM daily. If your number is selected, you will be given 24-hours to decide if you would like to reserve your allocated bottle for purchase. If you do not claim your reserved bottle, the beer will roll forward to the next day’s contest.

We expect to draw about 5-10 winning numbers daily, starting on Tuesday the 13th.

You can pick-up one card (entry) per-person, per day. Each winning number will be matched with (1) 750mL bottle or (2) 500mL bottles. Beer styles will be assigned randomly to each winning number. Take it or leave it…you have no obligation to purchase and we will gladly keep your winning number in the game if you are assigned a style that doesn’t interest you.

Second, just by coming into the Beer Store, you’ll have a random chance of winning free Red Rock merchandise throughout the day. We’ll be giving away glasses, shirts, bottle openers, etc. There’s no purchase necessary to win.

The game starts now! Cheers!
