Red Rock Brewing Company opened its doors to the Salt Lake City community on March 14, 1994. While being the first restaurant located in the 200 West 200 South block, speculation on the success of a brewpub in such an industrial area was high. Approximately 15 partners that came together to start Red Rock, and that alone could have spelled a recipe for disaster. However, the vision for this little old warehouse was one with great potential, offering much more than another bar-food joint. The concept was to expand the idea of brewpubs in Utah by offering a wide variety of brews and home-made sodas alongside quality, innovative menu choices that would leave people talking!
Well the plan worked and many changes have come and gone over the course of time for this SLC Brewpub! Currently Red Rock is controlled by 3 partners; Robert Jensen, Hank Rutter and Eric Dunlap. The vision for Red Rock has only strengthened over the years, while it has become a staple in the downtown restaurant community as well as the state-wide brewing community.
Opening a new location and serving Red Rock’s beer was a challenge that did not come easy for the owners. After a long and tedious battle with the Salt Lake City Council, a newly passed law enabled our SLC location to distribute off site to the potential new location. The law was passed thanks to Red Rock’s persistence and presence at many council meetings and has changed the way that beer is distributed in Utah to the advantage of many smaller brewpubs! In January of 2005, Red Rock decided to expand its presence by opening a second location in the ever-growing community of Kimball Junction located in Park City, ready to serve beer!
The owners at Red Rock hope to see many more great things happen for Red Rock including expanding with more locations and continuing to increase beer production! Good things are always happening at Red Rock so stop on by and see what it’s all about!
